Abstrakt

Wiesława Rutkowska (The State Archive in Kielce) Archival Materials for the History of Kielce during World War I in the State Archive in Kielce State archive is one of the most important institutions whose mission is to maintain sustainability of the testimonies of the past and to ensure open access to them. In the state archive in Kielce both written and unwritten historical sources are kept. The oldest date back to the 14th century whereas the most recent ones are from the 21st century. This archive constitutes an excellent source for conducting various thematic research. The year 2014 was an excellent opportunity to deal with the subject of the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I. However, the present article focuses only on the role of Kielce in the events of the years 1914 – 1918. Archival materials from the state archive are presented chronologically, according to the date they were registered by the state archive. The data presented in the article concerning the years 1914-1918 refer to Kielce and are characterized in the order of provenance. The query was conducted in state archives and archival auxiliaries: inventories, indexes as well as SEZAM and IZA databases. 54 fonds, whose chronology and place of origin refer to the subject under discussion, were selected.
