Marek Maciągowski (Centre of the Patriotic and Civil Thought in Kielce) Anti-Jewish Incidents in Kielce on 11 and 12 November 1918 in the Light of Minutes of the Town Council Meetings Anti-Jewish incidents, during which 4 Jews died and approximately 250 were wounded, took place in Kielce on 11 and 12 November 1918. Jewish shops were looted. One of the sources of information on the incidents is minutes and transcripts of the meetings of the Kielce City Council. A discussion in the Council clearly indicated that during World War I Polish – Jewish relations substantially deteriorated. The events in Kielce, which were quite unusual in other parts of the Kingdom of Poland, were described in the Morgenthau Committee report. Their causes were social and political, including growing tensions during the war and accusations of Jews of causing the deterioration of living conditions as well as fears and anxieties concerning the shape of a new Polish state, which ultimately led to the outbreak of uncontrolled violence.
