Tadeusz Banaszek (Kielce) 2nd Light Artillery Regiment of the Legions in Kielce (1922–1939) The 2nd Light Artillery Regiment of the Legions, which was a unit of the 2nd Infantry Division of the Legions was established in June 1919 and took part in the Polish-Soviet War in 1919-1920. From September 1922 to September 1938, the regiment stationed in Kielce and was the second largest military unit (after the 4th Infantry Regiment). Artillerymen were actively engaged in the life of the city, participating in various initiatives popularizing physical education or supporting the unemployed. In 1937 a military flag was founded for the regiment by the Kielce society and in 1933 the regiment received the title of the freeman of the city. After the outbreak of World War II, from 1 to 9 September 1939, the artillerymen took part in the defense of Poland during the Nazi aggression. Key words: Kielce, Second Republic, Polish Army
