Marcin Kolasa (Museum of the History of Kielce) Acquisitions of the Kielce History Museum in 2013 In 2013, the Kielce History Museum acquired 345 exhibits, of which 149 have been entered into ‘History’ Inventory Ledger, 38 into ‘Art’ Inventory Ledger and 158 into ‘Materials’ Auxiliary Inventory Ledger. The Museum’s library resources increased by 3,181 items. The Museum acquired a collection of memorabilia of Stefan Artwiński, Kielce mayor, and his family, including 1,500 photographs, documents, letters, diplomas and certificates, medals and other items constituting 128 entries into the Museum’s Inventory. Additionally, a number of other documents and prints connected with social and economic life of Kielce and the region, such as school certificates and various identity cards of organizations and institutions were acquired. The most valuable items include a yearbook on granting Aleksandra Piłsudska a membership of the Polish Teachers Association established in 1938 at the initiative of the Kielce Branch of the Polish Teachers Association. Another acquisition of the Museum is a collection of photographs showing the fate of Polish soldiers, especially those from Kielce, during the Second World War, as well as albums and single photographs connected with the history of Kielce industry, education and scouting. An album of photographs of the 4th Infantry Regiment of the Polish Legions during their fights in Volhynia in 1915-1916 is a unique museum’s exhibit. Among other various items acquired by the Museum are: a barrel for fuels for military vehicles from 1932 manufactured by ‘Ludwików’ Steelworks, products of Roman Kluźniak Mechanical Workshops and Metal Foundry, scales manufactured by Kielce Scales Factory, a uniform plate from the beginning of the 20th century confirming the affiliation to the 2nd Unit of Fire Brigade in Kielce and a plate from 1923 commemorating the 50th anniversary of Kielce Fire Brigade. 3 banners and some interesting documents and photographs were donated by the Świętokrzyska Regional Council of Democratic Party. The Museum also acquired an emblem of the Association of Siberian Deportees, Kielce branch, as well as some elements of military uniforms, including a peaked cap (rogatywka) of the 4th Infantry Regiment of the Polish Legions made by a Kielce hatter, Sz. Kochen. The Museum’s art collection was enriched by a prayer book of Rafał Hadziewicz entitled ‘Dieu Est L’amour’ [God of Love], issued by Karl von Eckartshausen in Wrocław in 1817, including an inscription and a sketch of Jesus on the cross. There were also 18 drawings and a watercolour by Stanisław Prauss from the 1940s and 1950s showing motifs connected with the Nazi occupation as well as a lithograph entitled Kraków from 1932 and a woodcut entitled Obóz Rosjan pod Kielcami [Russian Camp near Kielce] (drawing: M. Wiesner, woodcut: Janet Lange) from a French weekly ‘L’Illustration . Journal Universél’, 1863. Additionally, two paintings by Zbigniew Kurkowski, Pejzaż [Landscape] (oil, 1965) and Bez tytułu [No Title] (acrylic, 1970), one painting by Edward Mesjasz Mjr Hubal z oddziałem 1939-1940 [Major Hubal with a Squad 1939-1940] (oil on canvas, 1970s) were purchased. New medals were acquired for the section of medallic art, namely Józef Piłsudski Twórca Legionów [Józef Piłsudski The Founder of the Legions] (designed by Konstanty Laszczka, Vienna, 1917), medals created by Zygmunt Kaczor: Szydłów 1329- 1979, Oskar Kolberg 1814-1890 and Muzeum im. Oskara Kolberga w Przysusze [Oskar Kolberg Museum in Przysucha] as well as a medallion designed by Z. Kaczor with the image of Danuta Słomińska-Paprocka. 225 books, 73 magazines’ issues, 34 museum catalogues, 6 documents of social life and 2,843 iconographic items were added to the Museum’s library resources, which include a collection of books, documents referring to social life and iconographical resources.
