Józef Dobski, Diary of 1939 Ed. Andrzej Rembalski He was born on February 8, 1911 in Wąchock. In 1924 he joined the troop and he took the scout’s oath. In 1926 he moved to Kielce with his family and joined the First Kielce Scout Troop named after Dionizy Czachowski, which was well-known at that time, and took an active part in its work. After completing his military service in the Officer Cadets of Infantry Reserve School in Zambrów, he returned to Kielce. He became a member of the Polish Scouts Headquarters. He studied at the Faculty of Law at the Jagiellonian University and Faculty of Socioeconomic Sciences at the Catholic University of Lublin. As a second lieutenant of the Polish Army he participated in the September Campaign. He was taken prisoner by Russians but he escaped. On his return to Kielce in October 1939 he joined a military organization called the Service for Poland’s Victory, then the Union of Armed Struggle and the Home Army. He worked in the intelligence of the Home Army. In the military underground his pseudonyms were: ‘Jesionowski’, ‘Sław’ and ’Chmielowiec’ . From 1941 he managed actions of Kielce Gray Ranks. In 1945 he went to Lower Silesia and together with Sub-Scoutmaster Marian Stolarczyk he organised the first Polish Scouts Headquarters in Jelenia Góra. After creating the Instruction Circle ‘Łysica’ in 1980 in Kielce at the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association Headquarters gathering the oldest scout instructors, he joined its works. He died on August 30, 1992. He was buried with military and scout honours on the parish graveyard at Smutna Street in Wrocław in the section of the Home Army.
