Abstrakt
The paper presents documents and groups of materials collected at the Central Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw. The documents show political, economic and social changes that took place in Kielce in the 20th century. The article is intended for people searching for useful information at the Central Archives of Modern Records. The documents might also be attractive for those passionately interested in history and may contribute to better understanding of the history of Kielce. The selected materials are mostly preserved in a very good or good condition. Those items which are difficult to decipher are indicated. What is more, there is also some information as to the size of the document and whether it is larger than an A4 sheet of paper. The paper comprises three parts. The first one is devoted to the years 1905 – 1939 and it consists of materials created by the authorities, individual ministries, selected social organizations and units of Kielce Voivodship Office and Provincial State Police Headquarters. The second part covers the years of World War II. There are documents prepared by the German authorities, partisan squads, the Central Welfare Council, Government Delegation for Poland, Polish Workers’ Party and Polish Committee of National Liberation. Finally, the third part comprises records from 1945 to 1989. There are details referring to the referendum of 1945, election of 1947, communists’ fights with the opposition, rebuilding of the city, political parties or individual ministries operating in those times.
